What should you do the week of a BJJ tournament?

This is a question I received recently from a BJJ White Belt who is getting ready for her 1st BJJ tournament.

So in this video I share some tips on preparing for a Brazilian Jiujitsu competition and what to do on the week of grappling match.

What has been helpful for me and my students over the years. It drilling out game plans and taking it easier on the week of the competitions.

This helps us sharpen our Brazilian Jiu-jitsu game leading up to the tournament, and it also helps us avoid any injuries that could happen last minute.

And one of the things I focus on is being almost robotic when I hit the mats.

When I step on the mats for a competition I immediately start to work towards the grips I need for the techniques that make up my opening.

I’ve drilled them so much that the BJJ techniques fire off like some sort of program. I’m not thinking. I’m just actively seeking the grips to make the techniques work.

This has worked well for my students and myself in competitions.

So I hope this video is helpful!
